Yorkšírský teriér / Jorkšírský terier je velice veselý i společenský pes. Nádherně se chová ke všem členům rodiny i k jiným domácím zvířatům.

PŮVOD:
Yorkšírský teriér byl vyšlechtěno na konci 19. století, a to horníky a pracovníky z Uest – Rajdinga (město stojící v Jorkšír –Nottinghemském uhelném revíru). Štěňata Yorkšírského teriéra byla vyšlechtěna v údolí řeky Er a velice se podobají štěňatům Erdelterierů. Předpokládá se, že toto plemeno vzniklo křížením Skai-teriéra s plemenem černě pálených teriérů. Je zajímavé, že proto, aby toto malé plemeno mohli exportovat, museli přistoupit k velmi umělé selekci (pes váží maximálně 1 kg). Plemeno bylo uznáno FCI, AKC, UKC, KCGB, CKC, ANKC.
POPIS:
Yorkšírský teriér je velice kompaktní pes, podobný na dlouhosrstého Toi-teriéra. Výška v kohoutku je 23 cm. Hmotnost do 3,2 kg (někdy i nižší). Hlava je zploštělá, s krátkým čumákem a černým čenichem nosu. Na hlavě je dlouhá srst jasně zlatavé barvy. Zvláště dlouhá srst je na čumáku a okolo uší. Zřetelně jasné je rozdělení barev: na hlavě je pouze zlatavě pálená, na krku a těle tmavá, modravě ocelová. Uši nejsou velké, tvarované do písmene „V“, stojaté nebo polo-stojaté. Ocas je pokrytý srstí tmavšího odstínu než na celém těle. Dle standardu srst nesmí padat z boků na podlahu a je pravidelně rozdělena od špičky nosu až ke konečku ocasu do pěšinky. Přiznané je modré zbarvení ocelového odstínu, se zlatavým pálením, u kořene tmavším. Štěňata tohoto plemene se rodí na svět zcela černí.

VÁHA:
Do 3,2 kg.
SRST:
Srst vyžaduje pečlivou a důkladnou péči.
CHARAKTER:
Yorkšírský teriér je velice oddán svému majiteli, vyniká pevným zdravím. Je velice veselým i společenským psem. Nádherně se chová nejen ke všem členům rodiny, ale i k jiným domácím zvířatům.
